Marcella J. Huisenga Remembered in Funeral Service

Marcella J. Huisenga | Smits Deyoung-Vroegh Chapel - South Holland

Crete - Marcella J. Huisenga, nee Brandsma, aged 94, of Crete, Illinois, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred Huisenga, loving mother of Sherry (Paul) Van Deraa and Judy Boersema, devoted grandmother to Ryan (Emily) Van Deraa, Amy (Brett) Bousema, Bryce (Audrey) Van Deraa, Jason (Megan) Van Deraa, Leah (Aaron) de Jager, and Marc Boersema, and cherished great-grandmother of many. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Grada Brandsma and her brother Gerald (late Anna Mae) Brandsma.

Marcella was an active member of Calvary Reformed Church and later Emmanuel CRC, where she dedicated herself to various church activities, including serving as a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years, leading Women's Bible Study groups, and mentoring others. Known for her kindness and sewing talents, Marcella will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Christian Reformed Church in Sauk Village, Illinois, officiated by Rev. Jeff Hale. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens South in Oak Lawn. Memorial contributions can be made to DeMotte Christian School, Elim Christian Services, or Emmanuel CRC.
