The South Suburban College (SSC) Foundation successfully held its Casino Royale Gala on April 26, 2025, at the Odyssey Country Club in South Holland, Illinois. The event raised nearly $90,000 to support student scholarships and academic initiatives.

The gala was attended by elected officials, business owners, community leaders, SSC staff and administration, and other supporters. Attendees enjoyed gaming, dining, live entertainment, silent auctions, and celebrations aimed at fostering student success.

A notable contribution of $25,000 came from Ingalls Memorial Hospital/UChicago Medicine. This donation is directed towards the Foundation’s Allied Health & Nursing Campaign to enhance healthcare education and training at the college.

Entertainment for the evening was provided by Art Turk and the Congo Square Artistic Ensemble. Led by Art Turk Burton, this group brought a soulful performance that celebrated New Orleans' cultural heritage.

The program included award presentations with remarks from several SSC representatives: President Dr. Lynette Stokes; Chairman of the Board Terry R. Wells; Executive Director of PR & Resource Development Dr. Kellie Martin; Vice President of Administration & Finance Devon Powell; Vice President of Academic Services Tasha Williams; and Master of Ceremonies Jeff Beckham Jr., CEO of Chicago Scholars and Co-CEO of REACH Pathways. They emphasized the achievements of honorees and highlighted how donor support positively impacts students' educational paths.
