Victoria Ponce, Devoted Mother and Pillar of Faith, Passes Away at 73

Victoria Ponce, aged 73, a lifelong resident of Blue Island, peacefully passed away on May 14, 2025. She was the dedicated wife of the late Oscar Loya and a loving mother to Nancy, Oscar, Egwin, Robert, and Rogelio. Victoria was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, with a family who adored her. She was also a dear sister, aunt, and caregiver to many whose lives she touched.

Born on December 23, 1951, in Mexico City, Mexico, to Augustin Ponce Osnaya and Clementina Urbieta Lazo, Victoria lived a life centered on love, service, and faith. A devoted member of St. Mary Magdalene Parish, she found solace and fellowship in prayer groups, living out her faith through kindness and compassion. Victoria's generosity, homecooked meals, and nurturing garden were expressions of her love and care for others, a trait she embodied until the end.

Victoria’s humble spirit, deep faith, and nurturing presence touched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of love and devotion lives on in her family and the many individuals she supported throughout her life.

Visitation will be on May 19, 2025, at Krueger Funeral Home in Blue Island, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Benedict Church/St. Mary Magdalene Parish. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, IL. The family invites sharing of special memories and photos in tribute to Victoria.

Victoria Ponce will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
