Commissioner Sean Morrison has used his social media platform to criticize recent statements by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson. In a series of posts, Morrison accused the officials of contributing to heightened tensions within vulnerable communities.

On September 6, 2025, Morrison wrote, "Governor JB Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson have been stoking fear and anxiety among already vulnerable communities. Their reckless and inflammatory rhetoric has openly encouraged physical resistance, pushing dangerously close to inciting violence against federal agents https://t.co/SpUayFq2BN".

Later that day, he added, "Dangerous & reckless… culpability. Any violence and the accountable liability will be rightfully and squarely on him, Brandon Johnson, and many other democrat leaders, stoking such vitriolic rhetoric. Pray for peace. Stop the rhetoric, lower the tension! @RaymondALopez https://t.co/7KYoM2X44j".

Two days earlier, on September 4, Morrison posted a more general message: "Folks, Who needs to hear this out there https://t.co/tiqoYnI5N3".

Morrison’s comments come amid ongoing debates about public safety in Chicago and broader concerns over political discourse in Illinois. The relationship between city leadership and state officials has faced scrutiny as local leaders respond to issues involving law enforcement and community trust.
