Glen Ellyn - Louis Edward Stanczak, known as Lou, passed away on August 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and professional excellence. Born on April 12, 1967, in Chicago, IL, Lou was a beacon of light to all who knew him. His battle with cancer showcased his immense strength and unwavering spirit, and his passing marked the end of a life lived with faith, love, and dedication.

Lou's academic journey at Indiana University paved the way for a successful career spanning over three decades in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. His work at Forest, Merck, Genentech, and Incyte as an Oncology & Hematology Specialist reflected his passion for science and his deep care for those in need. Lou's commitment to improving lives was evident in his interactions with colleagues and customers, making a lasting impact on many.

Amid health challenges, Lou's dedication never wavered, maintaining a strong presence in his professional sphere and supporting his team with courage and resilience. His warm, generous nature endeared him to everyone he met, leaving a lasting impression on countless lives through his work and spirit.

In his personal life, Lou was a devoted husband to Elizabeth and a loving stepfather to Isabel, Gavin, and Kendall. He found joy in family moments, sports events, ski trips, and golf outings, embodying a zest for life and a love for his loved ones.

Lou is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hermanson (née Canfield), his stepchildren Isabel, Gavin, and Kendall Hermanson, as well as his mother, Carole Ina Stanczak, and his brother, Michael James Stanczak. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Joseph Stanczak.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Saint Petronille Church in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, followed by a Mass. Cremation rites have been accorded. To honor Lou's memory, flowers or trees can be sent via the floral store.
