Donald Lee Smith, fondly known as Don, passed away on October 7, 2025, at the age of 70, after a courageous battle with bone marrow cancer. Born on October 11, 1954, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, Don's legacy is one of strength, resilience, and warmth that touched the lives of those around him. He passed away in Justice, Illinois.

Don was a devoted husband to Kimberly Cummings and a loving father to Theresa, Jacqueline, Jennifer, Robert, Sarah, Kimberly, and Thomas, as well as a cherished grandfather. He was the dear brother of Barbara Alfieri and a beloved figure in the lives of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Working in the railroad industry for 34 years, Don's dedication, work ethic, and camaraderie endeared him to all who knew him. He found solace in hunting, fishing, photography, and a shared love for the Chicago Bears. Don's passion for model trains reflected his lifelong fascination with railways and attention to detail.

Known for his loving, kind, and thoughtful nature, Don will be remembered for his gentle demeanor, generous heart, and selfless devotion to family and friends. His legacy of integrity, warmth, and kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him.

Visitation and Celebration of Life to honor Don will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium in Justice, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded.
