Commissioner Sean Morrison has posted a series of tweets on November 4 and 5, 2025, questioning recent coverage by the Chicago Tribune and raising concerns about reported sexual misconduct cases within Chicago Public Schools (CPS).
On November 4, Morrison challenged the accuracy of media reporting, asking, "So why the inaccurate narrative from the Chicago Tribune ".
Later that day, Morrison referenced educational outcomes and alleged misconduct in CPS, writing, "Pesky facts, oh yea, but but at least 30% of the children are “learn’in a lot” Oh by the way: what is happening with the over 1384 alleged sexual abuse misconduct cases from CPS teachers and staff on their students between 2022-2024 alone".
On November 5, Morrison commented on an unspecified issue with another post: "Some things you can’t make up!"
Morrison is a Cook County Commissioner. The issue of sexual misconduct allegations in CPS has been covered in local news outlets in recent years. In February 2023, WBEZ reported that Chicago Public Schools had investigated hundreds of allegations against employees for sexual misconduct or policy violations involving students since launching its Office of Student Protections and Title IX in 2018. According to their reporting, many cases were substantiated and resulted in disciplinary action or terminations (WBEZ).
The debate over media narratives concerning public institutions like CPS remains ongoing. Allegations regarding teacher misconduct have prompted both internal reforms and increased scrutiny from government officials.
