Chicago Ridge School District 127-5 students suspended 46 times in a single school year

Chicago Ridge School District 127-5 reported 46 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 46 students during the year. That equates to 3.1 percent of the 1,473 students enrolled.

Of the 26 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 22 incidents. There were three incidents of violence without physical injury. For 20 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 20 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes nine incidents. There were eight incidents of violence without physical injury. For nine incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
