Former state university employee Hite paid in $62K to pension fund, could collect $834K in retirement

Former state university employee Hui Ling Hite, who retired in March 2019, saved $62,078 toward a pension over 17 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Hite would collect as much as $834,092, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes South Cook News.

The projection assumes Hite received $17,532 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Hite will have already received $73,348 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
