VILLAGE OF TINLEY PARK: Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

Healthrecap

Village of Tinley Park issued the following announcement on Sept. 3.

The Village of Tinley Park will join the Tie a Teal Ribbon Foundation in designating the month of September as National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. In order to increase public awareness of the disease, the foundation is placing teal ribbons on lights poles along Oak Park Avenue in Tinley Park.

Ovarian cancer is the fifth-leading cause of cancer deaths among women in the United States, and approximately 22,000 women will be diagnosed with this form of cancer this year. The mortality rate for ovarian cancer has not significantly decreased since the "War on Cancer" was declared more than 40 years ago.
