COOK COUNTY STATE'S ATTORNEY'S OFFICE: Statement from Cook County State's Attorney Kimberly Foxx on Today's Public Charge Hearing

Courtgavel0321

Cook County State's Attorney's Office issued the following announcement on Feb. 26.

Following oral arguments in Cook County v. Wolf where the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office argued the merits of the injunction to block the Trump Administration’s discriminatory public charge rule, State’s Attorney Kimberly Foxx released the following statement:

“When the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office filed suit to block the public charge rule, we knew it would be an uphill battle. The Trump Administration continues to bypass ordinary legal processes and take extraordinary steps to block people from accessing public benefits like food, housing, and health care.

“The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office is unwavering in our commitment to defend our immigrant families from illegal action. We will continue to fight for the merits of this injunction and challenge the Trump Administration’s implementation of discriminatory policies, which threaten to harm the public health and economic well-being of Cook County as a whole.”
