Cost of college went up for all students at South Suburban College

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.3 percent for 2018-19 at South Suburban College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $11,033 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $247 more than the $10,786 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 15 percent more than residents this year, or $12,683. Their price tag grew 4.2 percent from $12,173 in 2017-18.

About 95 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents. And about 5 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 96 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 281 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.1 million.

Including all undergraduates (4,232), 2,686 students used grants or scholarships totaling $9.3 million.
