COWAN EARNS ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS BEHIND 34 POINT PERFORMANCE IN THE ANNUAL SIENA HEIGHTS THANKSGIVING CLASSIC AS WINNING STRUGGLES CONTINUES

The Jaguars took a break from CCAC play to head down to Adrian, Michigan to play two Wolverine-Hoosier Athleitc Conference teams, Siena Heights University (7-2) and Lawrence Tech University (4-5) in Siena Heights annual Thanksgiving Classic.

SHU Thanksgiving Classic began Friday afternoon, as the Jaguars were set to face-off with Siena Heights. Governors State struggled to put points on the scoreboard in the first half and suffered a 13-point deficit at half time. Lotte Miller's near triple double 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assist along with some tenacious defense, gave the Jaguars a strong push in the second half but fell short and lost 59-49 to the Saints. GSU is still waiting for the return of guard/forward Tabetha Jones who has been leading the Jaguars in scoring before suffering an injury to her shoulder.

Saturday, the Jaguars were set to take on the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils. Cowan produced 13 of the Jaguars 20 points in the first half as the Blue Devils went into half-time with a 13 point lead. 6-foot Junior forward Aaliyah Hull was fouled and had a chance to win the game with two free-throws with seconds left on the cock. Hull split the pair and sent the game into over-time. GSU's amazing comeback behind Cowan's 21 second half points, wasn't enough as Lawrence Tech went home with a 57-56 victory.

Cowan scoring 34 out of GSU's total 56 points gave her the right to be named to Siena Heights All-Tournament team after the second game concluded. She was joined by Sha'Kyia Parker (Siena Heights), Kennedy Schlabach (Keiser), Elise Ellison-Coons (Keiser), and Jade Faris (Lawrence Tech).
