State Senator John F. Curran of the Illinois General Assembly has called on Governor J.B. Pritzker to focus on his role in managing the state's issues, particularly the healthcare benefits for immigrant adults and seniors, during his speech on Nov. 1st.
"It is impossible to talk about Illinois’ challenges without talking about the governor’s health benefits for immigrant adults and seniors program. I have great concerns about the program’s cost structure, as well as the lack of transparency and the failure to implement any cost control measures that the governor previously talked about," said John F. Curran.
The senator continued with his criticism over Pritzker's handling of this policy, accusing him of avoiding responsibility for its escalating costs by blaming it on legislature. He also asserted that Pritzker seems more focused on bolstering his political image nationally than dealing with state issues under his jurisdiction. "While Gov. Pritzker is out Thinking Big in states like Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio and Arizona, who is thinking about the Illinois government?" questioned Curran.
John F. Curran was first elected to the Illinois Senate in 2017, according to information from the Illinois Senate. A Republican from Downers Grove, he has legislative experience serving on both Appropriations II Committee and Assignments Committee.
Meanwhile, Governor J.B. Pritzker launched a nonprofit organization named Think Big America back in Oct., drawing from his Think Big campaign theme used during his 2018 gubernatorial run.
The main goal of Think Big America is championing ballot measures aimed at protecting abortion rights. Its board of directors include businessperson Desirée Rogers, Illinois State Representative Margaret Croke and Chicago Alderman Michelle Harris.
