Village of Crestwood Village Board met Jan. 9

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER The Regular Board meeting was called to order by Mayor Ken Klein at  7:00 p.m. 

ROLL CALL Present and responding to roll call were the following: 

Trustees: Linda Madlener, Kevin Wasag, Frank Caldario, Brian Skala and Denise Pietrucha 

Absent: Trustee Benigno 

A quorum was present and meeting commenced.

PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE  The pledge was led by Mayor Klein and recited by all.

Mayor Klein called the regular Board meeting back to order at 7:05 p.m.  

VILLAGE CLERK’S OFFICE APPROVE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MINUTES DATED DECEMBER 17, 2024. 

 A Motion to approve the Committee of the Whole Minutes dated December 17, 2024. 

Motion by: Trustee Madlener Seconded by: Trustee Wasag

Ayes: 5 Trustees Madlener, Wasag, Caldario, Skala and Pietrucha

Nays: 0 

Absent: 1 Trustee Benigno

APPROVE VILLAGE BOARD MEETING MINUTES DATED DECEMBER 19, 2024. 

A Motion to approve the Village Board Meeting Minutes dated December 19, 2024.

REQUEST THE CLERK TO NOTE THE CRESTWOOD PLAN COMMISSION/ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS PUBLIC HEARING AND REGULAR SCHEDULED MEETING MINUTES OF DECEMBER 23, 2024, “AS A MATTER OF RECORD” 

Request the Clerk to note the Crestwood Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals Public Hearing and Regular Scheduled meeting minutes of December 23, 2024, “As a  matter of Record”.

A MOTION TO SUSPEND THE RULES OF ORDER TO CONSIDER A SPECIAL USE ORDINANCE UPON THE REQUST OF HAMDI YASIN, MI-TECH AUTOMOTIVE, TO PERMIT AN AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS WITH MINOR WORK OF OIL CHANGES, ENGINE AND  TRANSMISSION WORK, (ON THEIR CARS ONLY NO OUTSIDE CARS WILL BE TAKEN IN) WITH NO TIRE REPAIR, BODY WORK OR PAINTING OF ANY KIND. ALONG WITH A USED AUTO DEALERSHIP WITH ALL VEHICLES BEING STORED IN THE DESIGNATED AREA OR IN BUILDING AND WILL FOLLOW ALL EPA GUIDELINES IN THE DISPOSAL OF OIL AND/OR ANTIFREEZE WASTE. THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING AND SURROUNDING AREA NEED TO BE CLEAN AND MAINTAINED ON PREMISES OF 13642 SOUTH KENTON AVE., CRESTWOOD, ILLINOIS 60418. 

A Motion to Suspend the Rules of Order to consider a Special Use Ordinance upon the request of Hamdi Yasin, Mi-Tech Automotive, to permit an automotive business with minor work of oil changes, engine and transmission work, (on their cars only no outside cars will be taken in) with no tire repair, body work or painting of any kind. Along with a  used auto dealership with all vehicles being stored in the designated area or in building  and will follow all EPA guidelines in the disposal of oil and/or antifreeze waste. The outside of the building and surrounding area need to be clean and maintained on premises of 13642 South Kenton Ave., Crestwood, IL 60418.

STREETS, LIGHTS, & DRAINAGE STREETS, LIGHTS & DRAINAGE – Trustee Skala, Chairman 

STREETS, LIGHTS & DRAINAGE REPORT DATED, JANUARY 9, 2025. 

The Streets, Lights, & Drainage bi-monthly report dated, January 9, 2025 was read by  Trustee Skala, highlighting the following work for the last several weeks:  

- Maintained all Police, Fire, EMA and Public Works vehicles. 

- Maintained all Village buildings and emptying exterior garbage cans. 

- Worked on 19 streetlights throughout the Village. 

- Checked storm sewers throughout the Village. 

- Checked storm drainage outfalls daily. 

- Jetted and cleaned 6 storm sewers and 2 Sanitary sewers 

- Helped with meter reading. 

- Worked on 3 fire hydrant and 22 valves 

- Had monthly safety meeting and completed safety videos. 

- Cleaned and straightened up public works building and yard.

- Cleaned Public works trucks and backhoes. 

- Performed 57 JULIE requests throughout the Village 

- Worked on street lights on Cicero Ave. 

- Installed siding on Police entrance 

- Sealed cracks in all Village parking lots. 

- Worked on 4 b-boxes and exercise them. 

- Checked for leaks in 3 houses. 

- Repaired 3 storm water inlets. 

- Repaired 2 sanitary sewer manholes. 

- Cleaned 27 storm water catch basins 

- Worked on pot holes and street repairs throughout the Village.  

- Picked up garbage at Village buildings and parks. 

- Continued flushing fire hydrants west side of town. 

- Framed walls, hung and taped drywall at Police Station remodel 

- Painted walls, doors and trim at Police Station remodel 

- Cleaned Cal-Sag Rd. and RiverCrest Dr. 6 bags of garbage 

- Ran street sweeper throughout the village (12 loads) 

- Clear trees on Long Ave. lots next to CRWC 

- Move 16 loads of dirt to the dump 

- Worked with Farnsworth on the street scape 

- Painted and taped police hallway walls 

- Trimmed trees on Westside for plow trucks 

- Cleaning out old Village Hall 

- Prepared and delivered 25 Christmas baskets 

- Helped with set-up and clean-up at the CRWC fvor the Santa visit and Market Place 

- Repaired a toilet at the Police Dept. Cell #3 

- Assisted with the donations for the fire victims from 5700 W. 128th St.  

WATER & WATER SEWER & SEWER – Trustee Pietrucha, Chairman 

WATER DEPARTMENT REPORT DATED JANUARY 9, 2025 

The Water Department report dated January 9, 2025, as submitted by Robert Knez, was  read by Trustee Pietrucha, highlighting the following: 

- Obtained 2 final readings 

- Verified 2 meter readings 

- Daily readings taken at pump house 

- Checked sanitary mainlines daily 

- Located 221 requests for Village utilities per J.U.L.I.E. dig notice 

- Replaced 1 transponder that was obsolete 

- Water samples taken this period were satisfactory 

- Worked on Scada water program system 

- Worked on Flow meters for MWRD requirements. 

- Tested generator equipment at pump house. 

- Check Altitude Valve, pump maintenance, chlorine room and security of pump house

- Cleaned pump house 

APPOINTMENTS APPOINTMENT/PROMOTION OF THE FOLLOWING: 

1. Crestwood Police Department 

John Touhy and Michael Gilhooly to the position of Full-Time Police Officers at the current pay rate. 

Effective January 6, 2025.
