Debby T. Schwickrath Remembered for Devotion to Family and Faith

Debby T. Schwickrath, age 94, passed away with love surrounding her. She was previously married to Jerome W. Jurewicz and Charles F. Schwickrath, both of whom she was deeply proud of. Debby's legacy lives on through her five children: Jerry (Debbie Leoni) Jurewicz, Gail Schwickrath (Bill Walker), Debby Schwickrath (Gary Traub), Phillip (Tracie) Schwickrath, and Mary Schwickrath (Walter Raymond). Her six grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Ellyn, Alexander, Rocco, and Joshua, and great-grandchild Anthony were cherished by her. Debby is also survived by her brother, Gustave Sankers.

Debby's journey included attending Saint Xavier Academy and DePaul University and being a dedicated member of the Mercy Hospital Junior Auxiliary. She also held leadership roles within the hospital and developed lasting relationships with the Sisters of Mercy. Engaging in parish ministry work at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, attending scripture seminars, and serving on various committees filled her life with purpose. She was recognized for her contributions to the ministry by Cardinal Bernardin in 1993. Debby found spiritual enlightenment at St. Joseph Parish, St. Jude Parish, and St. Julie Billiart Parish.

Debby valued her diverse friendships greatly and enjoyed playing bridge, attending cultural events, reading, and artistic performances. Her passion for literature, exploration of spiritual topics, and involvement in various artistic endeavors highlighted her rich and fulfilling life.

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 3-8 p.m., with the funeral taking place on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. at the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Julie Billiart Church. The interment will be private.
