Menelaos “Mike” Papageorgiou, 95, Remembered for Love of Family and Tradition

Menelaos “Mike” Papageorgiou, age 95, of Orland Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on April 28, 2025. Originally from Thasos, Greece, he emigrated to the United States in the 1950s. Menelaos was a dedicated worker, holding two full-time union jobs to support his family. In retirement, he cherished trips back to Greece and spending time with loved ones and friends.

Preceded in death by his wife Mildred and son Michael, Menelaos is survived by his children Cassandra and George, stepchildren George (Joann) and Marie (Wayne), grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3-8 p.m. at Lawn Funeral Home in Orland Park, IL, with a Trisagion Service at 4:00 p.m. The funeral will take place on Friday at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
