Palos Fire Protection District responded to 151 calls in 2017 - 36.6 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Palos included 28 fires - 15 structure fires, one vehicle fire and 12 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $523,400 in fire loss - or about $18,693 per fire.

The department also received 122 false calls, including one malicious call and 121 other false calls.
