Community Consolidated School District 168 students suspended 55 times in a single school year

Community Consolidated School District 168 reported 55 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 55 students during the year. That equates to 3.9 percent of the 1,405 students enrolled.

Of the 52 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for violence that caused physical injury. The category includes 52 incidents. For 36 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence that caused physical injury. The category includes three incidents. For two incidents, students were suspended for 3-5 days.
