Midlothian School District 143 students suspended 15 times in a single school year

Midlothian School District 143 reported 15 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 15 students during the year. That equates to 0.8 percent of the 1,817 students enrolled.

Of the 15 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 11 incidents. There were three incidents of drugs. For 10 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
