Report: Elementary School District 159 spent $17,871 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Elementary School District 159 is up 18.7 percent from five years ago, according to a South Cook News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Cook County school district spent $15,059 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $17,871 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 1920 to 1935.

Elementary School District 159's spending in 2017-18 was 34 percent higher than the state average of $13,337.
