Former state school employee Cartwright Chamberlin paid in $33K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $828K in retirement

Former state school employee Deborah Cartwright Chamberlin, who retired in August 2017, saved $33,261 toward a pension over 11 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Cartwright Chamberlin would collect as much as $828,109, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes South Cook News.

The projection assumes Cartwright Chamberlin received $17,406 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Cartwright Chamberlin will have already received $35,334 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
