Former state school employee Yerkes paid in -$519 to teachers' pension fund, could collect $442K in retirement

Former state school employee Sally Yerkes, who retired in February 2016, saved -$519 toward a pension over 7 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Yerkes would collect as much as $441,983, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes South Cook News.

The projection assumes Yerkes received $9,290 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 0 years of retirement, Yerkes will have already received $0 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
