Republican state Senate hopeful Eric Wallace has received the endorsement of the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) Illinois PAC in his run for the 40th District seat.
In throwing its support behind Wallace, NFIB State Director Mark Grant called attention to his business acumen.
“Wallace understands the challenges facing Illinois’ small businesses and will do everything he can to create and maintain an environment where small businesses can grow and create jobs,” he said.
Basing his candidacy on a platform of greater fiscal responsibility and government reform, Wallace welcomes the support.
“I am incredibly thankful for the endorsement of the NFIB,” he said. “Small independent businesses are the lifeblood for economic empowerment in the 40th district and the state of Illinois as a whole. If elected to the state Senate, I will do my best to ensure that the state Senate helps create and maintain an environment for small businesses to thrive and grow to create more jobs and opportunities for everyone.”
Wallace has wasted little time taking a position on the state’s most pressing issues. He recently took a stance on the issue of ethics reforms and democrats finally offering a set of proposals in light of longtime House Speaker Mike Madigan being implicated in an ongoing federal corruption probe involving utility giant ComEd and a pay-for-play scheme.
“They're never going to pass because they’ve got to come through Madigan first,” Wallace told the South Cook News of the proposals. “I give them kudos for trying, but the reality is he still controls everything.”
The NFIB Illinois PAC endorsement is viewed as being critical to the campaign aspirations of most candidates, with the agency dispensing it support based on candidates' positions and records on small business issues.
