Graduates earn 897 degrees, certificates from Prairie State College

About 47.4 percent of the 897 degrees and certificates handed out by the Prairie State College in 2016-17 were to students in Health Professions and Related Programs programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Heights conferred 350 certificates and 75 associate's degrees in Health Professions and Related Programs programs.

But the single most popular program was for a certificate in Nursing Assistant/Aide and Patient Care Assistant/Aide. Data shows the school gave out 234 certificates in Nursing Assistant/Aide and Patient Care Assistant/Aide, followed by 180 associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies and 66 associate's degrees in Biological and Physical Sciences.

The college enrolled 4,484 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
