How much has Cook County SD 130 overspent over the past 10 years?

Cook County School District 130 accumulated $22.44 million in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a South Cook News analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, Cook County SD 130 reported 28.3 percent more revenue. At the same time, total spending went up 17.7 percent. The resulting deficit grew by 87.9 percent from 2008 to 2017.
