Burbank School District 111 students suspended 40 times in a single school year

Burbank School District 111 reported 40 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 40 students during the year. That equates to 1.1 percent of the 3,570 students enrolled.

Of the 11 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 11 incidents. For 10 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 29 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 29 incidents. For 16 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
