Analysis: Chicago Heights administrators rank 331st in state for average pay

Administrators in Chicago Heights School District 170 earn an average of $103,898 per year, ranking 331st out of 864 districts in the state, according to a South Cook News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2018 average is 12.6% higher than in 2014 and 4.4% higher than in 2009. District administrators make 3.2% less than the state average of $107,279.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Cook County school district enrolled 3183 students in 2017-18. There is an average of 145 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 181 to 1.
