Former state school employee Rickman Williams paid in $3K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $75K in retirement

Former state school employee Cynthia Rickman Williams, who retired in November 2018, saved $3,420 toward a pension over 1 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Rickman Williams would collect as much as $74,503, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes South Cook News.

The projection assumes Rickman Williams received $1,566 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Rickman Williams will have already received $4,840 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
