Franciscan Health has opened a new clinic dedicated to the treatment of atrial fibrillation (A-Fib) at its Franciscan Physician Network Indiana Heart Physicians location in Indianapolis. The clinic aims to address the needs of patients with A-Fib, a common heart rhythm disorder that can be symptomless and may go undiagnosed for long periods.
A-Fib is sometimes detected through irregularities on devices such as smartwatches or may occur without any noticeable warning. If left untreated, A-Fib increases the risk of stroke and other heart-related complications.
The new A-Fib clinic provides same-week appointments for patients who have recently been diagnosed with the condition. Services include one-on-one education sessions with an A-Fib nurse coordinator, faster referrals for tests and specialist consultations, medication management, and personalized treatment plans.
Treatment options at the clinic include medications and ablation procedures. Patients may also be considered for minimally invasive Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion Devices, which are designed to reduce stroke risk associated with A-Fib.
The Franciscan Physician Network Indiana Heart Physicians A-Fib Clinic is located at 5330 East Stop 11 Road in Indianapolis. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 317-893-1911.
