Franciscan Health Lafayette East will hold a retirement celebration for Dr. Rosario Chua on Sunday, November 16, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place in the Heartland Café, located just inside the North Entrance of the hospital.
Dr. Chua has served as medical director and practicing neonatologist in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Franciscan Health since 1989. Over her 36-year tenure, she has provided care for hundreds of babies in the NICU.
“Dr. Chua has spent her lifetime giving premature infants a chance at a full future,” said Marcia Cherry, MSN RN, chairwoman of the Franciscan Alliance OB/GYN Collaborative and director of the Women’s Center, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Care Center at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. “Her efforts and countless achievements have not only elevated the standards of patient care but have also inspired those who worked alongside her. Her legacy will continue to live on.”
The event is open to both Franciscan staff and members of the public. Families who have had children cared for in the NICU are encouraged to attend.
Franciscan Health Lafayette East’s NICU serves as a regional referral center for high-risk pregnancies and provides advanced care for premature and ill infants as a Level III NICU. This designation indicates that the hospital is equipped with advanced technology and specialists trained to care for newborns needing intensive support.
Franciscan Health Lafayette East is located at 1701 S. Creasy Lane in Lafayette.
